StoveTeam International

Forest Resener is the Operations Director for StoveTeam International, an organization based in Portland, Oregon that has provided over 76,000 improved cookstoves for families in Latin America. Right now StoveTeam is working on a new project in Guatemala, a stove that is built in place and includes a chimney, completely eliminating smoke inside the home. StoveTeam is a nonprofit organization, started by a Rotarian in Eugene, Oregon that facilitates the placement of safe, affordable, fuel-efficient cookstoves in collaboration with local communities to support families and protect the environment. StoveTeam's innovative model for assisting entrepreneurs in Latin America has been awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Partnership for Clean Indoor Air Award for Developing Local Markets for creating local employment while improving health and reducing air pollution. To date, local projects started by StoveTeam in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico have produced more than 76,000 stoves, improving the lives of more than half a million people and preventing nearly one million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network (NORVHN)

The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County will host a speaker from the North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network at the Club’s meeting at noon on Thursday, April 15th, via Zoom video. North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network (NORVHN) is a non-profit serving Clallam and Jefferson Counties on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. The Network offers homeless services to those who have served our country whether in peacetime or at war. Their mission is to heal the wounds, to restore dignity, hope and self-sufficiency to all homeless veterans in need and to significantly reduce homelessness and poverty among our local Veterans. Quilcene Historical Museum

Career Path from Chimacum High School to a Certified Public Accountant

East Jefferson Rotary welcomes members of the public interested in hearing Emily Froula, certified public accountant, and a principal at the local accounting firm Froula CPA, at noon on Thursday, April 29th. Emily will provide a perspective on her career path from her year as a Rotary exchange student in Switzerland and graduate of Chimacum High School to earning her degree and achieving certification as a public accountant, as well as the importance of her membership in Rotary as a member of the Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary Club.
