Tsunami Modeling

The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County will host its regular meeting for members and guests on Ring video on Thursday, July 16th, 2020 at noon.


Speaker Catherine Laney-Garrison will address the Club on tsunami modeling.


Dr. Carrie Garrison-Laney is a tsunami hazards specialist at Washington Sea Grant at the University of Washington and a liaison to the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research at the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle. Her interests include tsunami geology, tsunami modeling, and science communication; and she participates in a variety of outreach activities, including Washington’s Tsunami Roadshow. Carrie earned a bachelor’s degree in Geosciences from San Francisco State University; a master’s degree in Environmental Systems from Humboldt State University; a master’s degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering from the University of Washington; and a Ph.D. in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington.
