The All-County Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 19th, 2018, at H.J. Carroll County Park in Chimacum WA. Our club  will display the ShelterBox tent at the Picnic.

The Picnic is a chance to shake hands with local emergency management, first responders, community leaders and elected officials, eat (free!) corn on the cob and learn a bit about the resources that exist to serve us, our neighborhoods and our communities.

Our club  will display the ShelterBox tent at the All-County Picnic. Rotarian Tim Jablonski is looking for team members to help put up and take down the tent. He’s been studying the instruction manual, so it should move along pretty quickly! Contact Tim if you’d like to help with the tent.

The All-County Picnic will feature live music, food vendors, group games, information booths, speakers and demonstrations, kids' activities and, yes, free corn on the cob - but don’t wait until the last minute - the free corn on the cob has run out every year! Check out for details.

On a serious note, it is becoming clear that it is not “if” the Pacific Northwest will suffer a major earthquake, but “when” it will happen.

The picnic introduces east Jefferson County residents to the development of resiliency through fostering community, and raises community awareness of  local emergency resources. It is an enjoyable way to learn more about individual, family and community and emergency natural disaster planning and readiness. Forewarned, as the saying goes, is forearmed.

Shelterbox tents have been used in the United States to shelter those displaced by flooding and hurricanes. While we hope we never have to experience a disaster, our Club has a long history of supporting the Shelterbox program. Come on out, lend a hand putting up or taking down the tent, and see what its all about for yourself!
