Youth Service is one of the five Avenues of Service within Rotary, and recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through Rotary leadership development programs.

The Avenues of Service channel our commitment to service at home and abroad, and form the foundation of club activity in every Rotary Club.

The Rotary leadership development programs supported by Youth Service include Interact, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Rotary Youth Exchange and Rotaract.

Our Club supports the Youth Service Avenue of Service by supporting the Chimacum High School Interact Club (high school students ages 14-18), supporting high school student eligibility for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), participating in the Rotary Youth Exchange in which select local students go overseas for the school year and foreign students spend a school year on the Peninsula, and by engaging in a variety of locally-based youth service activities.

One of the most important locally-based youth service activities we engage in is offering scholarships to eligible high school students. Our Club scholarship program is open to all students in the Chimacum and Quilcine School Districts (including home-schooled students) seeking further education in both college and trade schools. We run three fund-raisers each year (our Pot of Gold in the fall, the rose sale in the spring, and the US flag fundraiser all year), nearly all of which is used to support the scholarship program. As a result, over the past four years (though our scholarship program has been offered for much longer than that), we have been able to offer eligible students a total of over $100,000 in scholarships. The scholarship application process opens in the early winter and closes in late spring.

We are extremely thankful for the continued strong support of Club members and people in the communities around us who enable us to offer these scholarships.
