The Rotary Endowment Fund is the long range fund in which the principal - that which you donate - is never spent. The earnings generated by the Fund are used to make a positive and lasting difference in people’s lives.
You can be an important part of the Foundation’s next century of serving humanity by including a gift to Rotary’s Endowment in your estate plan, where your gift will be carefully stewarded to provide funding for the programs you know and love, year after year. A gift now, or from your estate to the Endowment, will provide ongoing financial support, just as your annual contributions to the Annual Fund and Polio Plus fund do today.

Join the many Rotarians and friends who have made commitments to improving and enriching lives around the globe by creating your personal legacy with The Rotary Foundation.

Donating to the Endowment Fund is usually made by including a gift to Rotary’s Endowment in your estate plan. You  may also make a direct donation to the Endowment Fund.

There are several ways you could make a donation or bequest. For example, a gift to the Endowment-World Fund allows the Trustees to direct support where it is most needed around the world. A gift to Endowment-SHARE allows your Rotary district to direct a portion of the spending along with a portion going to the World Fund. You may also support one or more of the seven areas of focus. For gifts of $25,000 or more, you may personalize your legacy with a separately identified fund that bears your name, your family’s name, or the name of a loved one, and with larger gifts it may be possible to more-narrowly direct the use of the funds to specific programs or regions.

Donors to the Endowment Fund are recognized in several ways.

  • Recognition as a Benefactor honors those who have donated $1,000 or more or promised such an amount through their will or Trust to the Endowment Fund.

  • Membership in the Bequest Society honors those who have made gifts between 10,000 and a million dollars. Several members of our Club have been honored with membership in the Bequest Society.

  • Membership in the Legacy Society honors those who have made gifts of  a million dollars or more to the Endowment Fund.

Of course, The Rotary Foundation encourages members to consult independent tax and legal advisers before making any charitable gift.

The Charity Navigator report on The Rotary Foundation, produced annually, is an excellent way to monitor the health of our Foundation. Charity Navigator is our country’s largest and most-used charity evaluator. Find out more, here:  https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=content.view&cpid=628, and use search term "The Rotary Foundation" .

On December 1st, 2020, Charity Navigator announced that for the 13th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation had received the highest rating possible. In a recent letter to the Foundation, Charity Navigator noted that "...only 1 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations…”

The four-star rating reflects Charity Navigator's assessment of how The Rotary Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness. Our Foundation earned the maximum of 100 points for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.   Please check with Foundation Chair John Erickson or Jack Zalaha, our Planned Giving point of contact, should you have questions, and thank you for your consideration!
