Chimacum High School seniors Polly Nole and Renee Woods have been honored by The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County as the September, 2018 Students of the Month.   

They were nominated for their outstanding leadership as the co-Presidents of the Chimacum High School Senior Class.


Polly and Renee were introduced to the Rotarians by Brian MacKenzie, Chimacum High School Principal.  Each student was awarded certificates of achievement by Caleb Summerfelt, the President of the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County.


Polly Nole, the daughter of Joe and Teri Nole, is a part of student government at Chimacum High School, and volunteers as an office assistant as well as for one of the teachers. She is involved with the Community Wellness Project as the CHS liaison. Her Senior Project is related to the Community Wellness Project. Polly is looking forward to working in a veterinary office after graduation and continuing her education to become a veterinary technician or assistant.


Renee Woods, the daughter of Robin and Jason Woods, is a 4.0 student taking AP English Language, Chemistry, Advanced Art, and Journalistic Writing as well as Medical Terminology, and is taking a statistics class through Peninsula College. She is Captain of the varsity volleyball team and is a member of the CHS tennis team.  Renee is the President of the National Honor Society, and the co-editor of the school yearbook. She serves as the student director on the school board as well. Her senior project is to continue Kelle Setje’s work as Chimacum Heritage Newsletter editor, a publication which connects the school to the community and features student articles and artwork. After graduation, Renee plans to attend a four year university and major in pre-med to achieve her goal of becoming a medical doctor.

The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County, chartered in 1982,  is one of seven Rotary clubs on the Olympic Peninsula. Members and guests of the Club meet weekly for an hour, Thursdays at noon, at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road (across from Chimacum High School). Walk-ins interested in our programs, the club, or in Rotary in general are welcomed.
