This past week, the Club’s Community Grant Committee approved a grant of $942.50 to the Chimacum School District.
This grant will enable the District to purchase an emergency HAM radio system.  The grant requestor is Mark Bauserman, who spoke at our Club meeting on November 8th.  In that presentation, he outlined a comprehensive plan for emergencies in our area being developed in coordination with the School District which could include a shooter on the campus, severe weather, an earthquake and other situations where our normal modes of communication might be interrupted or destroyed.  These Ham radios will allow the schools to be set up as emergency communication centers in such situations.  They will be part of an over-all Neighborhood Preparedness (NPREP) Plan for Jefferson County.
