The Heart of Service Awards recognize the dedication, sacrifice and accomplishments of Jefferson County individuals who do extraordinary things for their neighbors, their community, or their environment.  This year, nominations must be submitted no later than 5pm Monday, April 8th, 2019.

The Heart of Service awards are sponsored by Peninsula Daily News, the East Jefferson County Rotary Club, the Port Townsend Rotary Club and the Sunrise Rotary Club of Port Townsend, and will mark its fourteenth year in 2019.

Nominations are made by letter describing the merits and accomplishments of the nominee.  Individuals must be Jefferson County residents and their contributions must be made as a volunteer not an employee of an organization or non-profit.  The nomination deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. Monday, April 8th 2019.

A letter describing the merits and accomplishments of the person being nominated must be included with the nomination. It should cite examples of the individual's special dedication, sacrifices and significant accomplishments in community service.

If possible, the nomination should include supporting documents, such as copies (not originals) of other awards, newspaper articles or letters of support. Individuals, clubs, churches, businesses or other organizations may nominate.

But only individuals, not organizations, can be nominees. Anyone who lives in Jefferson County can be nominated. Recipients of the Heart of Service in the past are not eligible for a 2019 award. But those previously nominated but not selected for a Heart of Service are eligible for renomination.

The more detail included in the nomination narratives, the more judges will have to help determine if they should be recognized for this honor. All information requested must be included to qualify the nomination.
