The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) is a public-private partnership led by national governments with five key partners, one of which is Rotary International.
Rotary's top philanthropic priority, to which we donate the most money each year, is the eradication of polio.

While Rotary provided the spark and significant amounts of annual funding and volunteer effort to this end,  beginning in 1979, we've teamed up with four other important allies to eliminate this killer disease forever - and we are almost there.

Rotary International is a key part of a larger global effort to eradicate polio, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). GPEI is a public-private partnership led by national governments with five partners – the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Its goal is to eradicate polio worldwide.
