Residents and businesses in Port Ludlow have donated to the scholarship fund of the East Jefferson Rotary Club and are getting American Flags installed on five holidays each year. The first of over 30 flags were flying on Labor Day along Oak Bay Road in Port Ludlow. There were 16 above the Port Ludlow Marina sponsored by Port Ludlow Associates and 14 sponsored by Caldwell Banker Real Estate and Columbia Bank below their business locations. 49 flags fly in Port Hadlock and 3 on Marrowstone Island.
The flags will fly on Presidents, Memorial, Independence, Labor, and Veterans Days. The Rotarians will install the “semi-permanent” flagpole receptacle as well as put up and take down the flag on each holiday.
Each subscriber pays $50 per year for each flag and this service. The proceeds fund scholarships for our local school students and other local community projects like the Rotary Pavilion at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum and the Jefferson County Library Bookmobile Barn.
Flags installations are available for all of East Jefferson County and give the subscriber an opportunity to dress up their home or business on 5 annual holidays as well as make a donation to East Jefferson Rotary’s scholarship fund for local deserving students and schools. Contact a member of the East Jefferson Rotary Club if you want to take advantage of this opportunity!
If you wish to subscribe to this flag service, please mail a check (made out to “East Jefferson Rotary Club”) for $50 to PO Box 654, Port Hadlock, WA 98339.
