Emergency Preparedness

All-County Picnic

August 18, 2019

Join us and thousands more at the All-County Picnic on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at HJ Carroll Park from 11 AM to 4 PM. See the sidebar (All-County Picnic) for links to more information. Our Club is one of the sponsors and we set up and staff one of the main attractions - the ShelterBox.

After you prepare yourself and your family for an emergency or disaster, use “The Map” in the left sidebar to see if you are in a "prepared" neighborhood. If you are not, use the “MYN (Map Your Neighbourhood)” program (sidebar) to organize your neighborhood.

Sign up for NIXLE (sidebar) and subscribe to Nextdoor.com to review the emergency preparedness announcements on the “Public Agencies” news feed from the "Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management and the Washington State Emergency Management Division.

Communication is key. Learn about FRS (Family Radio Services "walkie-talkies") and ham (Amateur) radio networks. Use those networks to ask for help, to offer help, or to learn what is happening. Future ham classes will be announced on the “Public Agencies” newsfeed on Nextdoor.

Join "Millions of people worldwide (who) will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:17 a.m. on October 17th during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills!"

Check out other links in the left sidebar like the EP Digital Library.
