Chimacum High School (CHS) seniors Lillian Golden, Sadie Wisehart, Haley Morrison, and Galia Roman were recently honored as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County. The students were nominated for their outstanding leadership, citizenship, caring, responsibility, respect, honesty, fairness and academics.

The students were introduced to Rotarians and guests by David Carthum, the Chimacum High School principal, and were awarded certificates of achievement by the President of the Club, Paul Wynkoop. 

Lillian Golden, daughter of Kirsten and Paul Golden, plans to attend college to study computer science and animal husbandry. This year she is taking courses in Advanced Placement (AP) World History, AP Environmental Science, and Horticulture. She is editor of the yearbook and a member of both the CHS National Honor Society and the Interact Club. Lillian volunteers at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She loves taking care of and hanging out with her chickens, rabbits and dogs. She also loves art.      

Sadie Wisehart, daughter of Sarah Wisehart, plans to attend a university majoring in film and psychology. This year, she is studying pre-calculus, US Government, Creative Writing, Criminal Evidence and Film Study. She is involved in the CHS National Honor Society, and band, and is the Knowledge Bowl President and Class of 2020 Associated Student Body (ASB) Secretary. Her community activities are the Rakers Car Club and the Port Angeles Doll Club. Sadie is passionate about art of any form, nature study, and spending time with her family.    

Haley Morrison, daughter of Lisa Morrison, plans to attend college to major in science, then attend graduate veterinary school. This year, she is studying calculus, AP Psychology, AP World History, Civics, and Journalism. She is the ASB Executive Board Secretary, Food and Horticulture Club President, and the National Honor Society ASB Representative. She is a member of the Interact Club, Choir and Jazz Choir, Knowledge Bowl, and the Student Representative for the Wellness Committee. Haley shadows the local volunteers and Center Valley Animal Rescue to learn more about their procedures, and is passionate about animals. 

Galia Roman is the daughter of Rafael and Kathy Roman. She plans to attend a technology school for cosmetology. This year she is studying AP English, Spanish III, CWP and Choir. She is involved in leadership and teaching in the 4-H Peninsula Poultry Club. Galia loves the theater, musicals and plays, especially singing and acting, and loves to take care of animals. 

Rotary International is a century-old world-wide organization of men and women united by their interest in humanitarian service and who, by their actions, help to build goodwill and peace within their communities and around the world. The 2019 Rotary International Annual Report summarizes our global actions.

The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County, chartered in 1982,  is one of seven Rotary clubs on the Olympic Peninsula. Members of the public who wish to hear a speaker and those interested in Rotary are welcome at our weekly meetings, Thursdays at noon, at the Old Alcohol Plant Restaurant, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock WA.
