The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County is proud to be recognized as a partner of Chimacum Schools.

The Club has partnered with Chimacum Schools for decades, and, in 2018, was honored with the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Community Leadership Award in recognition of  the Club's tremendously supportive and creative relationship with Chimacum Schools.

The Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) is an organization for professional administrators that is committed to leadership in providing equity and excellence in student learning, and in developing competent, ethical and visionary leaders.

Chimacum Schools Superintendent Rick Thompson said “The Rotary Club sponsors students of the month, sponsors annual exchange students from Chimacum High School to foreign countries and hosts foreign exchange students from other countries. The Club sponsors the Rotary-affiliated high school Interact Club, supports the High School with scholarships, supports fundraising efforts, and encourages student leadership opportunities.  We are honored as a school district to partner with them!”

2018 Club President Terry Umbreit said “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of our Rotary club. We have supported Chimacum Schools for many years, and look forward to doing so for many more.”

This year, the Club has continued its strong support of Chimacum Schools by connecting with students through the following projects:

  1. The construction of a pavilion in the school’s garden to support the Chimacum High School Horticulture program via a matching District Community Grant.

  2. The Interact Club, supported by Chimacum High School and the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County.

  3. Actively supporting student participation in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program.

  4. The Student of the Month Program, in which students chosen by a consortium of CHS teachers are awarded that status by the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County.

  5. The Rotary Youth Exchange program, which is supported by Chimacum High School teachers, guidance counselors and administrative staff and managed by the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County.  The Club is hosting a high school student from South Korea and sponsoring a US student in Croatia.

  6. The Scholarship Program, funded by the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County, which is robustly supported by community support of the Club's US Flag Display program.

East Jefferson County Rotarians are proud of their support for local students, and look forward to continuing their partnership with Chimacum Schools.
